At this year’s Interzum in Cologne, Rockenhausen and Kesseböhmer presented for the first time new furniture front designs made from the innovative material OrganiQ. The designs were developed in collaboration with the design studio code2design, combining crafted material aesthetics with a strong commitment to sustainability and functionality.
Until now, OrganiQ has primarily been used for drawer inserts. With this new collection, the ecological material now makes its debut as a defining visual and tactile element in furniture design. With its natural texture, light structure, and carefully selected color palette, the new décor series opens up fresh possibilities for interior and kitchen applications.
“Our goal was to make the inherent qualities of OrganiQ visible and tangible in the outer surfaces of furniture,” says Michael Schmidt, founder of code2design. “The new designs highlight both material depth and environmental awareness.”
The prototypes shown at Interzum mark a new design direction within the Kesseböhmer product portfolio. They reflect the growing importance of responsible design and consistent material thinking – from functional interiors to visually striking exteriors. With OrganiQ, Rockenhausen and Kesseböhmer set a clear signal for sustainability in the furniture industry – now also visible on the front.
